Mike is the drive train specialist for the team. Before and after every pass, he performs a complete inspecttion on the w-drive and related parts for the drive train assembly. He also checks the props and shafts for unusual wear or cracking, and ensures integrity between the shafts and couplers that connect the drivetrain to the w-drive transmission.
This is a time consuming job, ensuring the drive train stays underneath the boat during each pass. With the props turning 18000 times per minute, chances of failure are high. Granite Racing appreciates what Mike brings to the team and we appreciate his efforts in keeping the boat right side up.
